It's Novemer and hot. It'll be like this until April but it's no problem. I've been at Handlebar for twelve months now. Wasn't sure I'd still be here this time last year, am thinking I probably won't be this time next year, we'll be finished mining by then I reckon. I have comfortably moved into the Survey role full time and have recently signed a new contract with the Company. They'll pay for a degree if I decide to study again which is a nice thought, but a lot of work. It would mean a minimum of 2 years full time for a half-arsed survey qualification or 4 years full time for an engineering degree, fuck! I have already spent a solid 4 years stuffing around and at the moment am tending towards giving photography a real crack before committing to mining for the rest of my life...I guess the whole reason I came out to the mines was to make a bit of cash to get into photography but it's not until now that I have had to think about it. At the end of a work day I don't have the energy to take my shoes off, so getting up the motivation to spend a few hours studying or reading is never going to happen, in which case I'd be spending my week off with my head in books, which kind of defeats the purpose of the new 8 on 6 off roster...

Anyway, I've had a crack at updating the blog. In doing so I've lost the last 12 months worth of posts, but its all crap anyway and not really meant for anyone but me. I got the shits with wordpress, I'm just not that good at html, hosting and things like that, so I got hold of an old blogger template and added a few of my own touches. It'll do for the time being.

Kate has decided to take on a hair dressing apprenticeship, so she'll be slogging it out for the next 3 years, but it should be well worth it. It appears there is no such thing as a makeup artist who can't do hair, so Kate will be super qualified when she's done. From all reports things are going well.

Finally, a group of us at work are participating in Movember. We are the Handlebar Hill Heroes and so far we've raised about $750 for mens health. I recommend that everyone donate to this really worth while cause.
